This panorama is looking out towards Lodge Moor, with the Peaks to the right (west). It was taken on the back road which eventually drops down onto the A57, you get great views from the top of here. This was taken on a day when I claimed I was 'snowed in' (thus skipping school) just so that I could go and take some photos in the snow!

My Backgarden, Sheffield (Last Modified on 2008-01-31)

Damflask and Stores, Peak District (Last Modified on 2008-01-31)
Looking out towards Stores [the village on the hill] and Damflask [the reservoir in the distance] during some snow last winter. I particularly like the colours in the sky, atmospheric. -
Bridestones, North York Moors (Last Modified on 2008-01-31)
I went to Bridestones with DUMC for a bit of bouldering one weekend during term-time. Its pretty isolated, but not bad rock, and good views. -
Ambleside, The Lake District (Last Modified on 2008-01-31)
This panorama was taken on an outing with DUHWS to Ambleside in the Lake District last winter. There were great colours that day due to the fact that there was only a small amount of snow around the place, and the weather was typically 'changable'. -
Chatsworth House, The White Peaks (Last Modified on 2008-01-31)
Chatsworth House in the white peaks, pretty cool... There are many paths through the White Peaks which also cross through the grounds of Chatsworth, it makes a change in the country side. -
Inglebrough, Yorkshire Dales (Last Modified on 2009-02-06)
Taken coming down the east side of Ingleborough whilst doing the Three Peaks round walk. That year I knocked 3.5 hours off my previous time, not bad I didn't think. -
Peace Gardens, Sheffield (Last Modified on 2008-01-31)
A 360 degree panorama of the Peace Gardens in the centre of Sheffield. I think the fountains have managed to stitch together quite well, don't you? The builing works behind me have now finised and look really quite good, more fountains!! -
The Peaks, Peak District (Last Modified on 2008-01-31)
Taken near Stanage looking out over the Edale and Hope valleys. The heather adds the customary colour to the scene. -
Derwent Reservoir, Peak District (Last Modified on 2008-01-31)
Taken on the banks of the Derwent Reservoir looking kind of north west (ish). I love the perfectly still nature of the water's surface, showing the faultless reflection of itself. -
Derwent Edge, Peak District (Last Modified on 2008-01-31)
On Howden Moors, above Derwent Reservoir, you can see Win Hill, Kinder Scout and Bleaklow, but only if you're good :p

Looking out over the capital, Vientiane, from one of the field points. I'm amazed at the colours shown, and also, at the time, how quickly it went dark.

Aonach Eagach, Scotland (Last Modified on 2008-01-31)
Taken on top of the ridge at Aonach Eagach, before it got serious, let that be a lesson to you!! DON'T do the UK's narrowest ridge in awful conditions where visibility is 10m and a gale is blowing from the north, blowing you off the south side. I had to abort it. -
The North Face of Aonach Eagach, Scotland (Last Modified on 2008-01-31)

Sunset at Rauhellern Hut, Norway (Last Modified on 2008-01-31)
Taken outside Rauhellern Hut as the sun just passed beneath the horizon. The colours were great, as its a National Park in the middle of nowhere, and cars and vehicles are illegal within it, there is no polution. -
Rauhellern Hut, Norway (Last Modified on 2008-01-31)
This was taken during the same sunset, but looking in the opposite direction. The pink-ness is only found in very cold and very dry climates, it's ice in the sky interating with the sunset opposite. Very cool, you don't get it in the UK. Had you noticed the dog sleigh to the right of the picture? -
The middle of no-where!!, Norway (Last Modified on 2008-01-31)
Does this feel remote or what? Pretty cool scenery though, and remarkably warm in the sun too. As you may have guessed, this is 360 degrees.

Angkor Wat, Angkor (Last Modified on 2008-08-27)
Well, Angkor Wat's situation isn't great, there are lots of walls and cloisters around the main Wat and so you can't get any decent photos of it up close and personal. So, I did this panorama - be sure to drag it up to the very top! -

Tat Kuang Si, Luang Prabang (Last Modified on 2008-08-25)
I think that these were the best set of waterfalls that I saw on the whole World Tour. Seriously, if you are ever near Luang Prabang you must take a tuk-tuk ride out to see Tat Kuang Si, it is about 32kms away. -
Pak Ou, Luang Prabang (Last Modified on 2008-08-25)
Housed in a cliff face on the banks of the Mekong is this small shallow cave which is full of little religious relics and statues of Buddhas. The entrance is quite imposing as it is rather steep and just drops into the river. -

Khone Phapheng, Si Phan Don (Last Modified on 2008-08-25)
This is a rather special place for me. I first came here in 2005 and I was blown away by the sheer power and noise of these falls. I also saw a Western traveller who was just sat on the floor with her eyes closed in semi-meditation just listening to the noise. It was quite a humbling sight. I managed to get a photo of her. Ever since then I've wanted to go back and do what she did, sit down, close my eyes and just let the power and the noise of the falls wash over me. It was great.

This panorama was taken on one of the floors on the way up to the cinema which is on the top floor. The escalators go up in spirals around the inside which makes it feel like you're on a drill or something! It is a really clean and cool building - an excellent rest from the mayhem that is Bangkok. -
Bridge over the River Kwai, Kanchanaburi (Last Modified on 2008-08-25)

Isolated Bay, Nha Trang (Last Modified on 2008-08-26)
To the right you can see Hon Chong Promontory which was a thorough let down, seriously. It's a boulder, perhaps 2m high. What's the big deal? -
Floating Market, Cantho (Last Modified on 2008-08-26)
I decided to go for the un-traditional photos of a floating market here: a panorama taken from the roof of a market boat, not bad eh?

Photos from Summer Trip (Last Modified on 2009-08-22)
After my GCSEs my dad and I went to Thailand and Laos for over 2 weeks. It was an absolutly amazing time, really enjoyable - so many cool things. However, it wasn't helped by the fact that I fell and injured myself which involved me going to many-a-hospital - not good! -
Photos from Summer Trip (part 2) (Last Modified on 2009-08-22)
This is the Laos part of the trip, I had to split it up as there are so many photos! -
Photos from Family Holiday (Last Modified on 2009-08-22)
During the summer we went and visited Jean and Lena on their farm in southern Sweden. A great relaxing time was spent eating goosey-goosey-goosey and looking for moosey-moosey-moosey! lol -
Photos from AEF Training (Last Modified on 2009-08-22)
Whilst I was a cadet in the ATC we were given plenty of oppertunity to go flying at an RAF base. When it was coming towards the time for me to leave the organisation I took my camera on the last flying trip I had: these are the photos.

A great trip to St-Valery-en-Caux in Normandy for 2 weeks. Involving a weeks worth of Work Experience at the local Place d'Information Jeunesse, which was hard, yet very enjoyable. -
Photos from DofE Gold Practice (Last Modified on 2009-08-22)
During our first year of King Edwards we participated in the Duke of Edinburgh scheme. These photos were taken from our 3 day practive walk in the Dark Peak in the Peak District. Highlights were Seymour's yellow furry tongue, trust me, you just wouldn't want to go there!! -
Photos from GnT on the Rocks (Last Modified on 2009-08-22)
The climbing club at school was able to wangle some extra money from the GnT budget, and so we were able to go to Wales for a week for some serious climbing. It wasn't the fact it was Wales, it was the fact that we had enough money to hire enough instructors to enable us to lead ourselves outside on routes, which was brilliant. It gives you SO much practice that it was really worth it. -
Photos from GnT on the Rocks (Last Modified on 2009-08-22)
This was the second of these such weekends which I went on, to the same place in Wales, it was really good too. -
Photos from DofE Gold Expedition (Last Modified on 2009-08-22)
My turn to go to Scotland and Kinlochleven with KES for my Gold DofE Expedition, was a great trip. Perhaps a bit too hot as that summer was a heat-wave, not good when doing 90km in 4 days and all the gear!! -
Photos from Paris Trip (Last Modified on 2009-08-22)
In our final year of A-Level French we went to Paris for a week, which, helped amazingly with our exams. Was very cool as well as all my friends went too. A great laugh.

Photos from Duke of Edinburgh Training Weekend (Last Modified on 2009-08-22)
After the amazing time I had the previous summer, I decided to join the staff and help out with their efforts with the next year's worth of students. To this end, a few mates and I went to Thornbridge in the White Peak to assist on the Training Weekend for the students in the year beneath us, it was really good, very cold though!! -
Photos from Walking in the Snow (Last Modified on 2009-08-22)
Well, this was quite naughty, but I was eager for the snow this year, so when it finally arrived I went arround Stannington and walked in the direction of the Peak District to take some photos. I was very pleased with the results. The naughty thing was that this day happened to be a school day, so I simply texted my mates and told them I was "snowed in", the fact that the buses were still running did annoy them, but it was only for one day. -
Photos from DofE Training Weekend (Last Modified on 2009-08-22)
As with one of the previous albums, I was helping out on a Duke of Edinburgh Training weekend, this time it was with some Y9s, and not with the Y12s as before. -
Photos from Three Peaks (Last Modified on 2009-08-22)
This was the first time which I attempted the "Three Peak Challenge". It consists of a round walk (almost 24 miles I think) taking in the three highest peaks in the Yorkshire Dales, which are Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, which must be completed in under 12 hours. The weather didn't help much either and I have to admit I struggled, however, I did manage to finish it with a time of 11hours and 28mins, which was just within the limit, yay!! -
Photos from DofE Training Weekend (Last Modified on 2009-08-22)
This was another of the Training weekends for the Duke of Edinburgh Award. This particular one was the Bronze practice for the Y9s. The group we were in charge of were not very proficiant, so we had to walk a distance behind them so that when they got lost, we could tell the teachers where they were. -
Photos from Y12 DofE Expedition (Last Modified on 2009-08-22)
During the summer I went back to my old sixth form (KES) and helped out with their major expedition to Scotland. This was the first year of me helping on the Y12 trip, having previously only done the Y9 in the peaks. The previous year I was a Y12 on the very same trip, so it was interesting having the roles reversed. -
Photos from Vignemale Exped (Last Modified on 2009-08-22)
Probably Rich and I's first major independant foriegn trip, which was to the French Pyrennes. Our intention was to climb the mountain Vignemale, which we did via a 3 day trek though the region. One of the best trips of my life, very VERY good. -
Photos from DUMC Stanage Weekend (Last Modified on 2009-08-22)
This was the first DUMC (Durham University Mountaineerin Club) weekend which I went on, and it seemed a bit of a disappointment to go to Stanage, as it is so close to where I live at home anyway. But never mind, a good time was had by all. -
Photos from DUHWS 'High Force' Trip (Last Modified on 2009-08-22)
This was the first DUHWS (Durham University Hill Walking Society) trip which I went on, it was to the region around the 'High Force' waterfall. Both Rachel and Rich came along, and we had a good time. -
Photos from DUMC Roaches Weekend Trip (Last Modified on 2009-08-22)
This was the second DUMC (Durham University Mountaineerin Club) trip I went on, and this was to the Roaches, a little outcrop of rock in the middle of nowhere. Climbing on the second day was limited due to the cold weather and my hands freezing up!!

Photos from Snow Wintery Fun (Last Modified on 2009-09-06)
In our eternal search for snow and decent weather Rich, Sarah and I went to Aviemore for a week over New Year. Was definatly a good trip, and towards the end of the trip our dreams were realised: snow is cool!! -
Photos from Bouldering with DUMC (Last Modified on 2009-09-06)
This was a weekend away to Bridestones for a spot of bouldering with DUMC (Durham University Mountaineering Club). Was really good actually, I got stuck into some great little problems. -
Photos from Night Photography (Last Modified on 2009-09-06)
My room mate and I went around Durham to take some decent long exposure shots. My personal favourite is the snow in the spot lamps for the Cathedral as they are nicely blurred. -
Photos from DUHWS Ambleside (Last Modified on 2009-09-06)
A DUHWS (Durham University Hill Walking Society) trip to Ambleside in the small amount of snow that was present. The trip was doubly exciting because Rachel came too, with her new boots, they were good. -
Photos from Holiday with et als... (Last Modified on 2009-09-06)
This Easter our family met up with El Als for a week and a bit in a cottage in Anstruther in Fife, it was really good, an excellent place to get away from things. -
Photos from Term at Hatfield College (Last Modified on 2009-10-05)
A few random photos from a term at Hatfield College. Oh yeah, Jonny Wilkinson came for a photo shoot. -
Photos from Wanderings (Last Modified on 2009-09-06)
After exams Charters and I wandered around Durham in search of tall cliffs to climb, unfortunatly we came back empty handed, but it was a laugh though. Especially the field from Vietnam!! -
Photos from Visiting et als (Last Modified on 2009-09-06)
Another of the things I did after exams was to catch a train up north to visit El Als in Ratho, the bonniest of places. I stayed for a weekend and managed to cram a walk to the Firth in and a session at the new climbing centre in the old quarry at Ratho. -
Photos from Summer Rowing (Last Modified on 2009-09-13)
My (non-already-hardcore-rower) mates at Uni decided to take up rowing 'for fun' for a few weeks, I went out and took pictures of them, oh what a laugh. Although, to be fair, they are far better than me!! -
Photos from Jazz in the Field (Last Modified on 2009-09-06)
One of my friend's mum helps to organise a charity Jazz concert in Edale, called 'Jazz in the Field', and so, like good little troopers, we attend. Its a classic event, with red wine from the bottle, local ales to make your hair curly and enough music so that the most introvert person is obliged to shake/dance!! Its really good, and this year, I took my camera, woo!! -
Photos from Climbing at Frogatt (Last Modified on 2009-09-06)
A random day's climbing at Frogatt Edge, nothing more, nothing less, just the unusual, non-slabby, Frogatt. -
Photos from Results BBQ (Last Modified on 2009-09-06)
Major day after exams, the celebratory BBQs next to the river. Loads of people there, just sipping Pimms (or wine or beer) and enjoying the sun, with no worries to think about. -
Photos from Three Peaks (Last Modified on 2009-09-06)
A year ago I did this walk, and only just managed to complete it in time, under awful conditions. This year, the sun was good, decent breeze and a bit more knowledge about what I was to face enabled me to knock 3 and a half hours of my previous time!! -
Photos from Y12 Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award (Last Modified on 2009-09-06)
Once again I went back to my old sixth form (KES) in the summer to help out on their annual summer expedition to Scotland for the Y12s to do their Gold DofE. Always a good laugh, and this year was certainly a good one. -
Photos from Laos Trip 2005 (Last Modified on 2009-09-13)
In the summer I was able to go to my favourite place for the second time, very lucky. Stayed in Vientiene for over 2 weeks and travelled south on the Mekong to see the Irrawaddy dolphins, which we actually saw. Not bad to say there are about only 100 left in the whole world!! -
Photos from Random Bike Ride (Last Modified on 2009-09-06)
As the title says it was a random bike ride, however, the colour of the heather was good, I think at any rate, you may think what you wish. -
Photos from Lawrencefield Quarry (Last Modified on 2009-09-06)
This was a new crag for us. It was just tall enough for us to do a two-pitch route, which was neat for the Peaks. However, there were ants on the belay point half way up, not good!! -
Photos from Derwent and Bleaklow (Last Modified on 2009-09-06)
I decided that, for a challenge, I wanted to walk from Derwent, over Derwent Moors, to Bleaklow, then to Kinder and down into Edale and come home. This, didn't happen, which I put down to the weather, it was SO hot and I had to drink a lot of water, so, consequently I did not have enough, and I got picked up on the A57, just after Bleaklow. -
Photos from St Petersburg (and Riga and Tallinn) (Last Modified on 2009-09-06)
During the end of the summer I was able to go to St Petersburg with some friends from Uni for 10 days, staying in a Youth Hostel. Flying out to Estonia and coming back via Lativa, the trip as a whole was a very good experience. -
Photos from Ox Stones (Last Modified on 2009-09-06)
Rich heard about a set of boulders just out of Lodge Moor which had been neglected by the bouldering community and were finally being explored, so we went and check them put. They are called "Ox Stones" and they are untouched, its the grippiest grit EVER, it was unreal, hands bleading after 20mins but SO worth it!! -
Photos from Wanderings (Last Modified on 2009-09-06)
Whenever I am bored in Durham I just go for a wander with my camera, there is always something to see out there, and this time was no different. -
Photos from Frosty Durham (Last Modified on 2009-09-06)
Once again, another wander around Durham, this time in the first major frost of the year. There we some brilliant effects out there, it was really cool (and cold)!! -
Photos from Photography Labs (Last Modified on 2009-09-06)
Photography labs was a one off session for our course, which involved going out and taking some pictures with a Black and White film on a SLR. We then developed the images in the lab, and these are the results. I have included the ones whose exposure was all wrong, just to so that even Hatfielders make mistakes. -
Photos from Snowy Stannington (Last Modified on 2009-09-06)
This was a set of wanderings which I did around Stannington, the village I live in on the outskirts of Sheffield. Was really good (as always) and there were plenty of things to see out there!! - Photos from Snowy Stannington (again) (Last Modified on 2009-09-06)

Photos from DUMC Glen Coe (Last Modified on 2009-09-06)
DUMC (Durham University Mountaineering Club) started to do some winter weekends, for the members to have a dabble in the snow and possibly a spot of ice climbing. On this trip we went to Glen Coe and did the Anoach Eagach and the day after made up another superb route over another ridge and popped out of the clouds, it was fantastic. -
Photos from DUMC Aviemore (Last Modified on 2009-08-22)
This was the second winter trip with DUMC (Durham University Mountaineering Club) and this time it was to the Cairn Gorms. This trip I broke my ice climbing virginity on a 5 pitch gully, the thing to add to that is that even though it was my first ice climbing, I also led it ALL - every pitch!! It was amazing. -
Photos from Beki, Vicki and Kirsten (Last Modified on 2009-09-06)
My sister came to visit me in Durham one weekend and also Vicki and Kirsten came down for the day too. It was a really good day and I am glad they all came to visit me. -
Photos from Norway Expedition (Last Modified on 2009-09-13)
This Easter I was lucky enough to spend almost 2 weeks in Norway cross country skiing through the Hardangervidda National Park. We covered over 100km and slept in DNT Huts and one snow hole. Very cool. We even managed to hitch in a snow plough! Get in! -
Photos from DUMC Isle of Skye (Last Modified on 2009-08-22)
The end of year DUMC (Durham University Mountaineering Club) trip was to the Isle of Skye this year, and it was a really good trip. Of particular highlight was the bizarre zip line thingy that we rigged up over the sea, definatly worth a look!! -
Photos from Close-ups and Textures (Last Modified on 2009-08-22)
As with before, whenever I am bored I go for a walk with my camera, and these are the results. This particular session is heavy on the flowers, they are not all pink, honest!! -
Photos from Summer Hols (Last Modified on 2009-08-22)

Photos from Publicity Shoot (Last Modified on 2009-08-22)
I've lived in Sheffield for the majority of my life and yet I've never gone around the centre and taken photos of things, so, I decided to rectify the situation by taking my camera and going for a wander.

Photos from Hatfield Hockey Match (Last Modified on 2009-08-22)
One weekend we decided to go down to Maiden Castle and watch Sam play hockey for Hatfield College. It was a good match, with a predictable victory against Castle. :) -
Photos from Derwent Walk (Last Modified on 2009-08-22)
My dad and I decided to do a brief walk on the Moors above Derwent, I took my camera to try out my new lens in landscape photography. Here are a few of the shots. The lens is a Sigma DG Macro 28-300mm f3.5-6.3. -
Photos from Yearbook Photoshoot (Last Modified on 2009-08-22)
After exams and towards the end of the year the only thing left to do was sort through our photos and find a photo of ourselves which we wanted in the yearbook. Obviously no decent photos were found so we went for an impromptu photo-shoot and blitzed them all. -
Photos from Touristy Shots (Last Modified on 2009-08-22)
Well, my time at University was coming to a close so I decided to go out and make sure that I'd got all the classic touristy shots of Durham before I left for good. -
Photos from India Visa Trip (Last Modified on 2009-08-22)
I had to get my Indian Visa for my upcoming travels and as the timing was so close I couldn't send it off in the post. So, I had to go to the nearest Indian Consulate which turned out to be in Edinburgh. Sam, Liz and myself decided to make a day of it, :) -
Photos from World Tour (Last Modified on 2009-08-22)
So, here we are, the first photo album from my World Tour of 2007. I spent a month in Thailand starting from Phuket in the very south and finishing in Chang Rai in the very north - enjoy! -
Photos from World Tour (Last Modified on 2009-08-22)
Right, my favourite South-East Asian country: Laos. This was the third visit for me but no less because of it. There are quite a few photos in this album, it's quite big: I'm sorry. -
Photos from World Tour (Last Modified on 2009-08-22)
This also contains loads of photos, this time around from Vietnam. I did the whole length of the country, from Sapa to Cantho. I hope you enjoy looking at the photos of my travels! -

Cambodia was a short stop so there are only photos from Siem Reap and Phnom Penh. Most of the Siem Reap photos are of Angkor. -

Just a few days in the capital to sort out my plane flights and train tickets so there are hardly any photos of India, enjoy though! -

Right, the pièce de résistance of my World Tour, Nepal - the Himalayas. There are a fair few photos in this album but I personally think they are very much worth it. -
Photos from World Tour (Last Modified on 2009-08-22)
I was only here for a day and a half so there are hardly any photos. New Zealand served as a nice place to break myself back into Western society, it was quite surreal to be honest.

Photos from Colourful Sunsets (Last Modified on 2009-08-22)
Taken a while back when I was a bit bored. I felt like experimenting with time-lapses of the sunset but I just settled for some decent long exposures of the colourful sky. It turn out really good I think. -
Photos from Macro Wild Flowers (Last Modified on 2009-08-22)
I borrowed my sister's macro lens and went out and took a fair few photos of flowers and grassy things. Here are the best of them. I did take substantially more than the 13 shown here but with f2.8 getting the depth of field right is a bit tricky.

I've always wanted to go to Oxford and take photos of all the college buildings. Perhaps this is because I went to University in Durham, or perhaps it is due to Lyra Belacqua, who knows? Anyway, we had a great day out just walking around and taking it all in. -
Photos from Tourist Snaps (Last Modified on 2009-08-22)
