Norway, 2006
This Easter Rich and I travelled to Norway for some serious snow, and serious temperatures. We had gales, white-outs and temperatures as low as -28°C. We used cross-country skis (and snow ploughs) as our mode of transport and did a dot-to-dot of huts in the Hardangervidda National Park. We started at Finse >> Kraekkja (24km) >> Heinsetter (16km) >> Rauhellern (13km) >> Snow-holed at Bjoreidalen (19km) >> Hitched (in a snow ploughs) to Haugastol (40km) >> Train back to Finse (35km). All in all, pretty successful, not bad to say I had never skied before!!

Hardangervidda, Norway (2006-03-19)
This Easter I was lucky enough to spend almost 2 weeks in Norway cross country skiing through the Hardangervidda National Park. We covered over 100km and slept in DNT Huts and one snow hole. Very cool. We even managed to hitch in a snow plough! Get in!
Panoramas
Finse, Norway
Showing Finse, the village we caught the train to in Norway. On the left is the hotel and on the extreme right is the train station. Note that they have dug away at the snow so that the train lines can be used!! This panorama requires the Java plugin.
Frozen Lake outside Rauhellern, Norway
Taken half way down the hill to the lake outside Rauhellern. Pretty good views eh? This panorama requires the Java plugin.
Sunset at Rauhellern Hut, Norway
Taken outside Rauhellern Hut as the sun just passed beneath the horizon. The colours were great, as its a National Park in the middle of nowhere, and cars and vehicles are illegal within it, there is no polution. This panorama requires the Java plugin.
Rauhellern Hut, Norway
This was taken during the same sunset, but looking in the opposite direction. The pink-ness is only found in very cold and very dry climates, it's ice in the sky interating with the sunset opposite. Very cool, you don't get it in the UK. Had you noticed the dog sleigh to the right of the picture? This panorama requires the Java plugin.
The middle of no-where!!, Norway
Does this feel remote or what? Pretty cool scenery though, and remarkably warm in the sun too. As you may have guessed, this is 360 degrees. This panorama requires the Java plugin.
